Murillo Complaint filed

The first legal challenge against RCI's points exchange practices.

January 2010

Class Action filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey

Filed by Anton Gentz and others, citing Consumer Fraud Act violations — specifically failing to provide Points Exchange members sufficient access to RCI-affiliated resorts.

April 25, 2012

Eligibility cutoff date

All U.S. residents who were members of the RCI Points Exchange Program on or before this date were eligible for the settlement.

August 24, 2012

Deadline to file claims

The last date for Settlement Class members to submit a valid claim form for their cash payment ($12 for current members, $10 for former members).

2012

Final settlement approval granted

RCI pays approximately $19,000,000 to Settlement Class members. Though individual payouts were modest, the moral victory marked a significant moment for timeshare owners standing up to a major corporation.
